Get Involved

Do you want to help plan this youth arts festival?

RawFfest is for young people, by young people.  Are you, or do you know someone aged between 16 and 25 and passionate about arts in Wales?  There is still time to get involved with programming, planning and marketing the August 2017 festival. To apply, please email our Youth Development Coordinator Sera Owen sera@rawffest.wales who will send you a link to a form.

To get a taste of last year's festival, watch this video made by two of our young artists.

Share your creativity

The core programme has been launched here.  However, we still have space for a few more exciting events and performances.

Are you a young person and want to share your creativity? Are you:

  • part of a theatre group and want to bring a show?

  • part of a band and want to share your music?

  • part of a dance group and want to bring a performance?

  • a photographer, artist or fashion designer and want to exhibit your artwork?

  • a writer, poet, or blogger?

Are you in charge of a group you want to bring?
Or are you a practitioner and want to run a workshop?

There are no limits to the creative forms we’ll consider.

To propose work, please contact RawFfest Director here who will send you a link to a form.

FAQs

Will RawFfest pay me to perform or show our work?

No. The essence of this festival is that young people come together to share their work. None of the young performers or exhibitors will be paid. If you are already a professional group who gets paid for performances, that’s brilliant and we urge you to keep making a living out of your creativity. But RawFfest is something different; it’s a place where everyone showcases their work. One of our young people described it as “an unconventional convention.”

I want to bring a performance. Do I have to pay for a ticket?

Yes.  Participants and performers do need to buy tickets.  Your ticket price covers access to all the workshops, performances and showcases, and lunch and dinner during the festival.

Are there any subsidised tickets?

In 2016 we were grateful for support from Maindee Unlimited, Arts & Business Cymru and a number of local authorities which enabled us to give free tickets to disadvantaged young people from particular areas. We hope to be able to do this again in 2017 but have not yet been able to confirm sponsorship or grants. We are working on it!

Will workshop leaders be paid?

We have a limited budget for artists to run workshops. However, if you are an artist with an ACW-funded organisation we would expect that organisation to pay your fee (for example, in 2016 we were grateful to both National Dance Company Wales and Ballet Cymru for supplying great dancers to lead different workshops). You need to ‘pitch’ your idea for a workshop through the form here and the young people in the planning group will decide what they want. Please email to let us know you have proposed a workshop.
